Human health, animal health and environmental factors are very closely linked, and a number of challenges have emerged from this interface in recent years. For this reason, the Bulgarian government established the One-Health Institute Bulgaria (OH-BG) in January 2024.
The main task of the One Health-BG (OH-BG) is to bring together human medicine, veterinary medicine, and environmental sciences to achieve better results for public health and primary care in Bulgaria.
The OH-BG will address research questions from the new field, train professionals for the future and introduce EU ethical and regulatory standards in human-animal interactions in Bulgaria.

Epidemiology

Questions surrounding the coronavirus such as its epidemiology, the role of animals and preventative measures are being discussed together with the authorities concerned and solutions are being sought.

Antibiotic Resistance

The Federal Office of Public Health (BAG), the Federal Office of Agriculture (FOAG), the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN) and the FSVO implement the measures of the Antibiotic Resistance Switzerland Strategy (StAR ). The BLV is responsible for coordinating the StAR Tier subproject .
